Poles in front of the screen – streaming versus television
Poles most often spend their free time in front of screens, and the choice between streaming and television depends on preferences and age. According to a study conducted by Play in November 2024, both forms of entertainment have their own group of supporters and opponents, as well as unique advantages and disadvantages.

Streaming is catching up with TV
The study was carried out on a sample basis 1,114 adult Polesshowed that as many as 48% of respondents choose streaming servicessuch as Netflix or Amazon Prime, while 52% still prefer traditional TV. Streaming is winning the hearts of younger users – in the 18-24 age group, as many as 72% of respondents use it.
The biggest advantages of streaming platforms are:
- flexibility – watching content anytime and anywhere (68%),
- no commercial breaks (15%),
- opportunity to watch the entire season of the series in one sitting (15%).
However, streaming also has its disadvantages. Poles most often point to:
- rising subscription prices (57%),
- the need to create separate accounts on different platforms (35%),
- dispersion of content among numerous websites (32%).
Traditional television – simplicity and attachment
Television, although more often associated with older audiences, is still very popular, especially in the 25-34 age group, where every third respondent prefers traditional programs. TV viewers value:
- attachment to favorite programs (56%),
- fixed broadcasting hours that facilitate planning (18%),
- ease of use (21%).
The Internet as the basis for entertainment
Apart from watching video content, Poles spend their free time online – such activity was indicated by 55% of respondents. We most often browse websites (77%), listen to music (17%), play games (15%) or use streaming services (58%). It remains a staple of home entertainment Landline Internetwhich is used by as many as 80% of respondents.
