Chiny dominują rynek aut

Poland and the world flooded with cars from China. Domination is coming

Until recently, the car market in Poland was defending itself against the huge inflow of cars from the Middle Kingdom. However, it turns out that 2024 may be the year of change. Also at the top of the world ranking.

Already last month, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) recognized that China has become the largest car exporter in the world. Surprised? Well, in recent years the Middle Kingdom has been doing great in this industry. In 2021 exceeded deliveries from South Korea, to defeat No. 2 Germany the following year. Is it finally time to defeat the reigning Japanese?

It's complicated…

Perhaps China has already done this. Everything depends on it what data we use. According to Japan's latest customs information, the country exported 5.97 million vehicles in 2023. That's up from the 5.22 million cars China sold abroad last year, according to Chinese customs authorities. A difference of approximately 750,000 vehicles is consistent with the data of the mentioned CPCA.

But the industry body Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association recently published data showing that the country shipped 4.42 million vehicles to the rest of the world in 2023. At that time, China was supposed to send 4.91 million cars to the world. This difference is therefore about half a million in favor of Beijing. The discrepancy in the data is due to the fact that customs authorities and industry associations apply in both countries various indicators. The former usually include more categories of cars and car parts.

However, the trend is clear and can also be seen in Poland, although a little late. Last year, a total number of cases were registered in our country only 143 cars with Chinese origins. For comparison, only in the first two months of this year, 2024, according to IBRM Samar data as many as 533 Chinese cars were registered. The leader is the MG brand, which has won the hearts and wallets of as many as 411 customers from Poland. At the same time, Mitsubishi sold 398 cars in Poland, and Fiat only 353 cars.
