PlayStation 5 Pro has been priced at 800 euros in Europe. According to the current exchange rate, which is around 4.30 PLN, it turns out that we will have to pay about 3450 PLN for the console (I suspect the official valuation is around PLN 3,499-3,599). A lot.
As if that wasn’t enough, we’re talking about a version without a drive. This may not be necessary, but some people would still like to have a Blu-ray reader, so you have to add another 500-600 PLN to the price, which makes 4000 PLN for the complete set.
Why is PlayStation 5 Pro so expensive?
Many people have begun to wonder where the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro came from. Sure, the components are more powerful than in the regular version, so it is automatically more expensive. However, let’s remember that we are still talking about architecture that is already several years old. The technological process is not particularly advanced either. It seems that this is not enough to talk about such a large increase. So what determined the amount of as much as 800 euros or 700 dollars in the USA?
Rhys Elliott from analyst firm MIDiA Research admitted that the $700 price tag is not that shocking to him and is confident that the PS5 Pro will sell around 15 million units. What’s more, if Sony and Microsoft could go back in time, they would likely price the entry-level consoles of this generation higher.
Depending on how long the current generation lasts, I wouldn’t be surprised if 13-15 million PS5 Pros were sold by the end of the generation.

In his opinion, the PS5 Pro is mainly for superfans. The console’s main target audience will be owners of the regular PlayStation 5. He also reminded that there are also about 50 million PlayStation 4 users who have not yet decided to switch to the new generation. The Pro model may be the right time for them to buy the console.
In conclusion, I expect PS5 Pro to have a direct positive impact on hardware sales, as well as a positive impact on software spending. However, the overall impact will be relatively small, and Pro will not lead to a large number of PlayStation users. However, it will help to maintain the engagement of power users, which are very valuable.
