Play sums up the first year with New Generation Television
Play reports that every third customer of purple TV services chooses television a la carte, i.e. New Generation Television. Almost a year has passed since the introduction of this service.
New Generation Television appeared on Play's offer almost a year ago, in mid-June 2023. This is the solution combining the most popular streaming services with traditional television. According to the purple operator, similar offers with a choice of channels in various models are available, for example, in Scandinavian countries and Canada. In Poland, access to “la carte” is provided only by Play.
As part of the subscription, customers receive access to 82 channels and the Viaplay Medium service. It is also at their disposal pool of 30 or 45 points, which can be exchanged every month for streaming services (Netflix, HBO Max, Canal+, Viaplay) and packages of additional channels, such as Eleven or Polsat Sport Premium. This allows for creating your own offer each monththanks to which you can watch as many interesting films, series and sports broadcasts as possible.
Play boasts of the innovative structure of the New Generation Television offer. For this reason, it should find interest among younger customers, less attached to linear television and more willing to use streaming services. In practice, according to the operator's data, the offer connects generations and is eagerly chosen by families.
According to our analyses, older household members choose TV “for points” due to access to traditional channels. Younger – because of the flexibility in the streaming offer. What is important for the latter group of customers is that each month they can choose a different streaming service as part of the purchased monthly points package, and manage the packages conveniently via a remote control on the TV screen.
– said Artur Dominiak, director of the Home Services Department in Play
Despite being less than a year old, Play customers have activated the service since the launch of the New Generation Television service over 133 thousand packages and servicesusing for this purpose almost 2.7 million points. These numbers are growing rapidly since now Every third customer of the Play TV service chooses New Generation Television.
We think these are great results. Especially since subscribers' awareness of the point solution is just developing. Observing trends on foreign markets, we expect a further increase in interest in this type of service in the future. For this reason, Next Generation Television will be one of the most important tools for implementing Play's strategy in the field of television services and the main direction in the development of partnerships for both streaming and linear content.
