PKO BP zablokuje klientom płatności. To nie awaria

PKO BP will block customer payments. It’s not a failure

Do you pay contactless by phone and have an account with PKO BP? The bank has an important message for you.

PKO BP will introduce important changes in the operation of contactless payments by phone. From March 20, this option will be gradually disabled for kart to the account and credit cards connected to the IKO application. You will have to switch to another solution.

Change the way you pay by phone

NFC payments via the IKO application are not the only solution. PKO BP Bank recommends that customers use contactless BLIK, which is connected to the account and works similarly to an account card. Contactless BLIK works in all terminals in Poland, and abroad you can pay with it in terminals marked with the Mastercard logo. Contactless BLIK payments are free of charge for bank customers and are included in the conditions exempting you from card or account fees. In case of payment in a foreign currency, the conversion takes place at the Mastercard exchange rate and without a currency conversion fee.

PKO BP also provided instructions on how to change the method of contactless payment by phone. It is worth doing it now to avoid unpleasant surprises in the future:

  1. Go to: Payments → Płatnolateproximity ones in the context menu (3 dots) select Settings płatnolateyou WITHraboutdłopłatnolatethose;
  2. Choose Contactless payments with BLIK and indicate the account, from which you want to pay with BLIK contactless. Choose method of confirming transactions;
  3. Confirm the change and pay as usual by holding your phone close to the terminal.

There are also other solutions that will allow you to pay with your phone and watch. The leaders are, of course, Google Pay and the Google Wallet application (also available for watches from some manufacturers, including Fitbit) and Apple Pay, available on Apple devices. You can also add the card issued by PKO BP to the Garmin Pay, Xiaomi Pay and SwatchPAY! payment systems to make contactless payments with a watch or sports band.
