Pekao has come to its senses. It is back with improved ATMs
Bank Pekao will finally allow its customers to make contactless withdrawals from its own ATMs. For now, there are only 11 points, but this is just the beginning.
The contactless function in ATMs is nothing new, but Pekao’s own machines did not have it until now. To the delight of customers, this is changing.
Service Cashless reports that cash withdrawal without a plastic card is currently available in 11 Pekao ATMs. This has already been confirmed by the institution’s press office, which also announces further expansion of the network.
We have launched contactless transactions in our devices. We are gradually making this functionality available in all our ATMs
– we read in the quoted statement.
It is hard to talk about a revolution at the moment, because on a national scale, the saturation of the contactless function in Pekao is very symbolic. With a total of 1,298 ATMs at the end of Q2, not even 1% of them have been modified.
The source notes that fortunately, the overall market situation looks much better. In Poland, more than every second ATM has a contactless function (58 percent).
It is worth adding that contactless withdrawals are generally considered safer because they reduce the risk of attacks such as ATM skimming. However, it is usually about convenience – you do not have to remember your card.
