Parcel lockers will force you to carry your smartphone. The process has already started
InPost has published its financial results for the second quarter of 2024. The company has reason to be pleased. Rafał Brzoska, the company’s CEO, announced that as many as half of new parcel lockers will not have a screen.
In the second quarter of this year, InPost recorded a 22 percent increase in revenue in Poland year-on-year, and almost 25 percent abroad. Although the market is at a difficult moment, the parcel locker company has reason to be pleased.
It’s hard to be super optimistic in the context of consumer sentiment. Customers are starting to count every złoty, so I expect the value of the shopping basket to decrease in the coming months. We can already see that consumers, instead of buying more expensive branded products, are buying cheaper ones. Hence, for example, the success of Chinese platforms offering cheaper substitutes for more expensive products, which is becoming more and more visible.
– said Rafał Brzoska, president of InPost.
Every second Parcel Locker without a screen
One of the new ways to reduce costs are parcel lockers without screens. The company calls them appkomats because they can be operated only and exclusively via a mobile app on a phone, which is also available in standard models. What’s more, as many as every second new machine is to be without a display.
Today, half of production is contracted for machines without a screen. The cost of individual machines is falling, because it is a much cheaper solution than devices with a touch screen.
– adds the president of InPost.
In total, in the second quarter of 2024, InPost handled as many as 170.4 million parcelswhich represents a year-on-year increase of approximately 20 percent. At the same time, revenues amounted to PLN 1.579 billion, which — as I have already mentioned — is a result better by 22 percent.
