Posiadacze tych aut zapłacą więcej. Rząd szykuje nowy podatek

Owners of these cars will pay more. The government is preparing a new tax

The government is preparing a new tax. It will affect owners of specific car models.

The government intends to negotiate changes to the National Reconstruction Plan with the European Union. The aim is, among other things, to remove the provision on the tax on internal combustion cars. This does not mean that some drivers will not pay more. Politicians are preparing a different fee.

SUV tax

The government wants to introduce a tax that will hit owners of expensive and large SUV cars. The plans were revealed by the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz. In her opinion, such vehicles cause more pollution, so the fee is justified.

This week there was a mission of Deputy Ministers Jan Szyszko and Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta from the Ministry of Climate regarding the revision of the KPO in the area of environment and climate with particular emphasis on (…) the tax on internal combustion cars and the registration fee. We want to modify it in such a way that it does not hurt the pockets of less wealthy people, and at the same time it profiles the car market in such a way that large, expensive SUV-type cars involve higher fees, and that it works for the environment and clean air.

– said Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

The tax would be collected together with excise duty on car registration. In practice, this means that SUV owners will simply pay more. We don't know how big the difference will be. Moreover, the issue of tax on internal combustion cars remains open, because it is not known whether Brussels will agree to such a change in the KPO.
