OnePlus saves batteries. A brilliant feature is coming to older models
OnePlus is known for being able to take care of its devices long after their premiere, and the latest update of the system overlay is the best proof of this. The manufacturer decided to make one of the most practical battery protection functions available to users of older smartphones and tablets.
Battery bypass charging originally debuted as an update to the current flagship model OnePlus 15. It was the fifteen users who were the first to enjoy the possibility ofpowering the phone directly from the socket bypassing the link, and not only in games.
The solution turned out to be so effective that OnePlus decided to implement it in older generations of equipment. Some time ago, OnePlus 13 received this feature with the latest version OxygenOS 16.0.3.500 bypass power goes to the following devices:
- OnePlus 13R,
- OnePlus 13s,
- OnePlus 12,
- OnePlus Pad Go 2.
The updates have already been officially announced, but may appear at different times depending on the region and model. To check if your OnePlus device already has this new feature, you need to check the settings menu to the Battery taband then Charging settingswhere the switch is located Battery bypass.
What is battery bypass?
They will especially appreciate bypass charging gamers spending long hours on mobile gameplay, as well streamers or driversusing the phone for navigation. Once you connect your device to the charger and activate the battery bypass, the control electronics will redirect the current directly to the smartphone’s motherboardcompletely bypassing the battery.
The traditional way of using a phone connected to a charger is murder for the link. The battery charges and releases energy at the same time, which generates huge amounts of heat. And heat is the biggest enemy of lithium-ion cells. Thanks to bypass charging, the phone remains relatively cool even when connected to the charger, because heat is eliminatedo generated by the battery charging process itself (however, it may still heat up due to the increased work of the SoC). During this time, the battery rests, charged e.g. to a safe level, while the phone draws power from the socket.
