On average, a Pole keeps two in a drawer. He can make money from it
There are more electronics around us every year. We no longer only use smartphones and laptops, but we also increasingly have tablets, smartwatches and game consoles, not to mention TVs and household appliances. At the same time, we are not very good at getting rid of old, no longer used devices. We keep them at home, even though you can earn good money from them.
We store electronics at home
The latest OLX study shows that on average every Pole keeps as many as 2 unused smartphones at home. Their total value is on average up to PLN 550, so it is a real profit just waiting to be reached.
Poles’ declarations show that only 38 percent actually sells unused phones. Almost every fifth person (approx. 20%) simply keeps them at home. In turn, 11 percent respondents give devices to family members. What does this mean? Many of us do not know how to price a used smartphone sensibly. As many as 35 percent declared such a problem. people.
Interestingly, the spring-summer period that we are approaching is characterized by the greatest interest in used electronics. Now is a good time to think about selling. Some people replace their devices after spending Christmas money, while others are getting ready for the holidays and want to have a different, better model.
We are observing a systematic increase in interest in used and refurbished smartphones. This is a trend that has been going on for a long time and is not solely due to current geopolitical tensions. Customers are increasingly looking for a combination of reasonable price, good specifications and a smaller environmental footprint.
An additional factor may be the increase in prices of new devices. The crisis on the RAM and NAND memory market will make smartphones simply more expensive. Additionally, there is a problem with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which will also translate into price increases. Because of this, even more people may be looking for used electronics at reasonable prices. This is an opportunity for people who keep such equipment in drawers.
