OLX calms down
We recently reported that sellers on OLX, Allegro and Vinted started receiving messages from the above-mentioned websites asking them to complete their data. This applies to people who exceed the limits set by the EU DAC7 directive. We are talking about at least 30 transactions or when the total amount exceeds PLN 2,000. euro.
This was supposed to cause panic among many sellers. In the meantime, there is no reason to worry. The mere need to provide data does not automatically mean an inspection by the Tax Office. It all depends on what and how we sold.
OLX is clearly afraid that DAC7 will negatively affect its financial results, hence the company’s statement is a bit of a finger wagging towards Polish editorial offices. However, we prefer to warn our readers. Original content of the statement:
We would like to remind all editors dealing with the topic of DAC7 that, as the reporting deadline approaches, issues related to the new regulations should not be presented in a way that could have a negative impact on the trade in second-hand goods. This is a type of trade that is of great importance both economically and ecologically. Misleading or sensational content makes it difficult for us to communicate effectively with trade participants. It is worth emphasizing that the vast majority of them are private users who use our platform to improve their financial situation or do it for ecological reasons.
– writes OLX.
It is worth recalling that the income aspect is very important here. If we sell our own things at lower prices than we bought them, there is no income and therefore no taxes. This also does not apply to private products that we have had for more than half a year. Therefore, most sellers on OLX have no reason to worry.
