NVIDIA wants to create its own portable console
NVIDIA is to work on its own portable console, which would compete with emerging devices with AMD components.
Although AMD is losing in terms of sales to Intel in the processor market and NVIDIA in the graphics card segment, it is doing very well in one market. We are, of course, talking about consoles. Both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S use Red components. In addition, there are a whole host of portable devices, including ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion GO. NVIDIA is fed up with this.
NVIDIA creates its own console
NVIDIA is apparently not satisfied with AMD’s strong position in the console market and the company’s representatives feel that they are bypassing an important segment in which they could have a much stronger presence. That’s why the company came up with the option of creating a powerful, portable console with a partner. This would be strong competition for devices with AMD components.
According to rumors, this is still a very early idea. Moreover, the information comes from a single source, so it is highly uncertain. NVIDIA, on the other hand, is looking for a partner who would like to make such a console with them. Theoretically, it could be a device with an Intel processor and a Green graphics system, but this seems unlikely, as the Blues are strongly focusing on their own solutions in the form of the Xe series.
NVIDIA could make a big stir on the console market. With solutions like DLSS or Reflex, they would probably be able to create a graphics chip that would be very competitive with solutions from AMD and Intel. However, it is not known whether there will be anyone (outside of Nintendo) who will want to make a handheld with them.
