NVIDIA stole an important specialist from Google. This is a historic change

NVIDIA is strengthening its ranks at a key moment in the company’s development. As reported by The Wall Street Journal, the manufacturer of graphics cards and AI accelerators has hired Alison Wagonfeld, previously associated with Google for many years, as the first Chief Marketing Officer in the history of the Green Party.

This move is intended to ease the burden on NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang

This is interesting because NVIDIA has been famous for its refined marketing and communication for years, but formally it did not have a person with the title of CMO, and the responsibilities were dispersed throughout the company structure. Now this is about to change – Wagonfeld is to take over supervision of this entire area and consolidate competences that were previously divided between different teams.

The new CMO is expected to start work in February 2026 and report directly to CEO Jensen Huang. Wagonfeld herself confirmed the transfer in a post on the LinkedIn platform, stating that she would leave Google at the end of January.

Wagonfeld spent nearly a decade at Google and was responsible, among others, for: for marketing Google Cloud, i.e. a typical B2B business – and this fits well with what NVIDIA is today: a technology provider for the largest players on the market who build and buy artificial intelligence infrastructure.

In practice, this is a move intended to relieve Huang. NVIDIA’s CEO has become one of the most recognizable faces of the AI ​​boom, but the company is growing to a scale where the narrative needs to be told more broadly than just through CEO speeches – especially when the offering is increasingly described as a complete data center platform, rather than individual products.
