NVIDIA planowała wydać słabszą kartę graficzną. Są dowody

NVIDIA planned to release a weaker graphics card. There is evidence

It is no secret that NVIDIA is working on various variants of graphics cards. However, it is rare for one of the unreleased versions to see the light of day.

Graphics card series NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2000also known as family Turingdebuted on the market in 2018. She was the first to introduce real service at home ray tracing in games. However, by this time two more generations from the Greens had already appeared.

The OC potential of the tested card turned out to be considerable

But why do we go back in time? Yesterday the model came to light GeForce GTX 2070. Yes, you read that right – GTX, not RTX. It is early engineering sample, which has significant changes in specifications. The cooling system itself, apart from the mentioned prefix, has remained unchanged.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2070 uses the same silicon as GeForce RTX 2070 – TU106-400A-A1, but equipped with smaller number of computational units. Two SM blocks have been disabled, so we get 2176 CUDA cores, 128 less than in the store copy. VRAM is still 8 GB.

Jiacheng Liu, the owner of the item in question, decided to buy it uploading the BIOS from the RTX variant. This did not unlock any part of the GPU (which is not strange, these days they are “castrated” with a laser) but it allowed for increased power limits, so either way it improved performance.

Increasing the voltage and overclocking the clocks allowed for improved performance in the program 3DMark by about 16%, approaching 95% of the performance of the official GeForce RTX 2070.

Of course, all this remains just a curiosity. However, it reveals a little more about what NVIDIA's plans were – the GeForce RTX 2070 model was supposed to be weaker. However, this vision was not completely thrown away, because the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER later had such a configuration of CUDA cores.
