Na rynek trafiły nowe SSD. Miej się na baczności

New SSDs have hit the market. Beware

Not everything that is expensive has to be good. A great example of this are the new SSDs from Sabrent, which are losing to the competition that has been available for a long time.

Although PCIe 5.0 SSDs are already available on the market, only the newest and most expensive processors and motherboards support them. Therefore, no one should be surprised that manufacturers continue to release new semiconductor media with the PCIe 4.0 interface, which may be of interest to a wider group of consumers.

Sabrent Rocket 4 prices are high and the warranty is short

American company Sabrent announced the introduction of a new series to its offer Rocket 4. It is based on proven components and although the specification looks good, you need to be careful. Talking about DRAMless SSDso without cache, which slow down significantly over time.

Sabrent Rocket 4 are format media M.2 2280that use the interface PCI Express 4.0 x4 and protocol NVMe 2.0. We get a controller here Phison E27T and 162-layer bones 3D TLC NAND from Kioxii, also known as BiCS 6. As mentioned earlier no DRAM memory here.

The declared performance reaches up to 7.4 GB/s for reading and up to 6.4 GB/s for sequential writing and up to 1,000,000 IOPS for reading and up to 950,000 IOPS for writing. This applies, of course, to ideal conditions. Due to DRAMless construction as the media fills up, these parameters will gradually decrease.

To start with, we get two capacities – 1 and 2 TBbut a variant will join them in the future 4TB. Suggested prices are $99.99 and $199.99, i.e approximately PLN 399 and PLN 799. The manufacturer provides a 2-year warranty. So it is expensive, and in this segment you can already choose from better solutions, such as: Kingston KC3000.
