New parcel lockers are coming. To start with, in two cities

InPost is starting a pilot program under which new types of parcel lockers will be created. These will be built, among others, in Poland. For this purpose, several locations have already been selected for them, including in Gdańsk and Kraków.

The new devices are Autonomous Parcel Lockers. They are equipped with, among others, photovoltaic panels and energy storage. Thanks to this, there is no need to connect them to the power grid, which is simply not possible in many places. This way, they will be able to operate also at night and on less sunny days.

The autonomous parcel locker is another innovation of the InPost Group. We can now place these modern machines in locations where it was not possible before due to the lack of access to the power grid. New machines increase the availability of our network for as many customers as possible. (…) It is worth emphasizing that the pilot will be carried out simultaneously in four European countries, which will give us unique knowledge about the possibility of expanding the network of autonomous machines in countries with different weather conditions

Moreover, the new parcel lockers are to work in the same way as traditional ones, although at night they will reduce the lighting to only 30%. power to save energy.

New parcel lockers will be installed, among others, in Poland, Great Britain, Italy and France. On the Vistula River, 9 locations in Gdańsk and Kraków were selected for testing. Three machines have already been launched in Florence. This month, the pilot will also start near the city of Lille.
