Netflix’s #1 Hit This Year’s Best Action Movie
Let’s forget about the cult classic Beverly Hills Cop , which until now was the king of action movies. It has just been overtaken by another Netflix production.
Rebel Ridge is a Netflix novelty that has been unexpectedly hailed as the best action movie of 2024. After its premiere weekend, it is already a No. 1 hit on the platform. Interestingly, we are talking about a production that no one had predicted for this title and there were no excessive expectations for it. But critics and viewers agree – this action thriller is really good.
Rebel Ridge is a thriller that is breaking viewership records. It is the most watched film on Netflix not only in Poland but also in other countries.
Does Don Johnson still draw crowds?
Apart from the well-known Miami PoliceDon Johnson, who plays a supporting role, there are no big names in the cast. The main role will be played by the little-known Aaron Pierre. Interestingly, this role was originally supposed to be played by the famous Star Wars John Boyega, but the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately thwarted those plans. The camera was taken by Jeremy Saulniera 48-year-old creator of thrillers, albeit little-known ones. He personally wrote, directed and edited the entire film. And it must be admitted that the effect he managed to achieve surprised many people. The creator does not waste time. From the very first minutes of the film, they make the viewer unable to tear themselves away from the screen. Critics compare the film’s plot to the cult Rambo, but for this very reason no one predicted a career for him.
And yet, the film not only breaks popularity records, but also receives excellent reviews from critics. This does not happen so often anymore.
Rebel Ridge – what is the movie about?
The film’s plot is the story of Terry Richmond, a former Marine who came to town to post bail for his cousin. Unfortunately, there he is met with injustice that will force him to confront local police chief Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson). Soon, however, he and his court clerk will be entangled in a conspiracy. And so we are drawn into a vortex of unexpected events and become witnesses to an uncompromising fight for justice for the residents and the hero’s family. But most importantly – this does not mean at all that ex-marine Terry will slaughter alone as part of a personal revenge. On the contrary, the hero tries to act in accordance with the letter of the law, without harming the innocent.
