Netflix is forcing customers to pay less. Contrary to appearances, it’s a problem
Netflix has begun to force customers to change the package they have been using for years. The service is offering them a poor alternative.
Netflix is forcing customers to change their current package. Although the service has announced that it will do so, users are still not happy. Mainly because the new alternative is not very tempting.
Netflix package change
This situation happened to all users who were previously using the basic plan priced at $9.99 per month. It is being replaced by the ad-supported option, which may be cheaper at $6.99, but the price difference is not big enough to suddenly get used to promotional materials before movies and TV shows.
No wonder customers are not happy. They are faced with a choice – either pay a little less but watch ads, or pay more. The decision is not easy.
Last year, Netflix announced that the Basic plan would be discontinued for new and returning users. Current customers could still use it. However, that changed in January of this year, when the service announced that they, too, would have to choose a different plan. The final change date is July 15, so the deadline is approaching inexorably.
The situation, for now, does not apply to Poland, because the ad-supported package is not yet available here. However, it is worth knowing what can await us when it appears in our country.
