MSI presents a huge, quiet and devilishly efficient SSD
The Taiwanese giant on the PC components market showed a new SSD. MSI's latest offering offers top performance and passive, quiet cooling.
At the end of 2021, a family of processors debuted on the market Intel Alder Lake-S and motherboards with a socket LGA 1700. It was then that the Blues introduced support for new standards such as memory DDR5 RAM or interface PCI Express 5.0.
MSI Spatium M580 Frozr offers performance up to 14.6 GB/s
Of course, we had to wait for their popularization, and only since last year have we been able to talk about reasonable availability PCIe 5.0 SSD. And it so happens that MSI has expanded its offer with an extremely efficient model.
MSI Spatium M580 Frozr is a semiconductor medium in M.2 2280which uses the interface PCI Express 5.0 x4 and protocol NVMe 2.0. The decision was made here to use a controller Phison E26 and 232-layer bones 3D TLC NAND from Micron. It completes the whole thing DRAM buffer and SLC cache.
The declared performance is expected to reach up to 14,600 MB/s for reading and up to 12,700 MB/s for sequential writing. So we're talking about top values that can only be matched at the moment Crucial T705.
What distinguishes the Taiwanese offer from the competition is: completely passive cooling system. We are talking about a huge aluminum radiator and three heat pipes, the whole thing has dimensions 72 x 24 x 94 mm. So silence will be paid for compatibility problems on some motherboards.
MSI Spatium M580 Frozr will go on sale in three capacity variants – 1, 2 and 4 TB. All of them covered 6-year warranty with a limit of saved data. Suggested prices have not been revealed, but you can safely assume that it will be very expensive.
