Mobile network failure in Denmark
One of the largest mobile networks in Denmark suffered a failure yesterday caused considerable concern and confusion practically throughout the country. Technical problems affected, among others, hospitals. Some of them had to limit the admission of patients only to critical cases.
On the other hand the police sent additional patrols to the streetsto help citizens in need. Problems also affected train traffic. Some of them did not set off, some had significant delays. A fault in the signaling systems was to blame here. Local authorities are still investigating whether it was also caused by problems with the mobile network.
In a statement released yesterday TDC mobile operator admitted to technical problems that affected almost the entire country. The source of the confusion was a software update made the previous day. At the same time, the company ruled out the possibility of a hacker attack.
TDC fixed the bug on Thursday evening, restoring the ability to make calls, but still with reduced sound quality. The operator also recommended that customers, if necessary, make calls to the emergency number 112 after removing the SIM card from the device.
