Learning languages is not enough. The most downloaded language learning app, Duolingo, is looking to expand its services and enter completely new areas. It’s like a speeding train. He doesn’t intend to stop, not even for a moment.

Duo, i.e. owl, wise head

Duolingo is the most frequently downloaded language learning application. Its popularity is mainly due to the fact that it is available in the basic version free. It is also a successful company and is currently valued at $1.5 billion. Her trademark is Duo – an owl, which is the heroine of numerous memes.

According to the latest data, Duolingo, in terms of revenue, has overtaken competitors such as Babbel, Rosetta Stone and Busuu. Duolingo is not about transfers. That’s about 500 million registered users and, due to the learning mode, as many as 34 million people using it once a day. And there is something to take advantage of. The app offers 100 different courses, in 40 languages. As noted by Rzeczpospolita, the offer also includes the fictional High Valyrian language from the “Game of Thrones” series.

The application is free, but it can also make money. And not only in advertising. It offers various types of Premium subscriptions, including Duolingo Max, with built-in AI features. Interestingly, only 8 percent of users use paid subscriptions, which, however, is able to provide 80 percent of the company’s revenues.

Duolingo does not intend to stop and rest on its laurels. It already goes beyond just learning languages. From 2022, we can study with the application mathematicsand since last year Doulingo has also introduced learning playing the piano. I wonder what else he will surprise us with in the near future.
