mBank may cut off your access. You have until June 12
Are you an mBank customer and are you using an old Android device? You will soon lose access to the bank's mobile application. This is apparently because of his concern for your money.
In February this year, mBank announced that it would introduce limitations to its application for Android and iOS. They involve cutting off access from devices with older versions of this software, and in the case of Google's mobile system it is a really old one. Android 7. At that time we didn't know the exact date of introduction of these restrictions, but now we know that it will take place June 12, 2024.
Since that day, To continue using the mBank, mBank Token or mJunior mobile application, you must have at least version 8.0 on your Android device. mBank justifies this change on security grounds, which is beyond dispute. The only question remains why an even newer version of the software is not required – Android 8 was released in 2017.
Changes in mBank and their consequences
After making the change mentioned above, you will not be able to log in to your account in the mobile application if you have an Android older than the required version. If you use mobile authorization, you will also lose the ability to confirm your operations ordered, for example, on a transaction website.
To use the latest version of the mBank application, it may be necessary operating system update on the mobile device you are using. It may also happen that due to the lack of support from the manufacturer of this device and the availability of a newer version of Android, you will need a smartphone or tablet replace with a new one. If you don't have this option, consider changing your authorization method to SMS passwordsto confirm your operations on the transaction website.
To disconnect the application from your mBank account, log in to the mobile application, click the gear icon and then in the section access to the bank click disconnect.
Remember. The mBank mobile application provides not only constant, but above all secure access to the account. Thanks to the mobile application, you can use solutions such as mobile confirmation of an employee's identity or confirmation of one-time access when you log in to the transaction website from a device that you have not marked as trusted.
