mBank gives money back to customers. It was about ATMs

mBank will refund money to its customers who incurred unexpected costs as a result of the protest of the Euronet ATM network. The bank focused on transparent communication and takes responsibility for the decisions of the network with which it has cooperated for a long time.

On Wednesday, June 18, Euronet informed its customers about difficulties with withdrawing money at Euronet ATMs. The message received by the users of the mobile application informed that Euronet without prior notice limited the amount of a one-time withdrawal from ATMs in their network to PLN 200.

Please note that today you can only withdraw PLN 200 at a time on Euronet – a decision independent of mBank

Importantly, as of April 3, mBank withdrew Euronet ATMs from its own ATM network and introduced a fee for each withdrawal. Each withdrawal on Euronet for an mBank client involves a fee of PLN 5.

mBank took responsibility for the problems caused by the one-day Euronet i strike decided to refund the costs incurred by customersrelated to withdrawals at Euronet ATMs made on June 18.

Yesterday, Euronet reduced the one-time withdrawal limit to PLN 200 for customers of all banks in Poland for one day. For many of you, this involved additional costs. Since neither we nor you had any influence on this situation, we decided to refund all fees charged yesterday for cash withdrawals on this network’s devices. The refund will be automatic and will be credited to your accounts by the end of June at the latest.

The entire situation was caused by Euronet, which decided to organize a one-day protest, calling for a change to the “current system of charging fees for domestic cash withdrawal transactions by ATM operators from VISA, Mastercard and BLIK and adapting it to a level that takes into account the real costs of providing this service” Details about the Euronet protest can be found in separate article.
