Nothing makes producers act like the specter of lower revenues. Technology giants are fleeing the Middle Kingdom like rats from a sinking ship.

After being announced by Donald Trump imposition plans 10% customs duty on imports from Chinaleading U.S. PC manufacturers such as Dell, HP and Microsoft, have taken steps to reduce costs and minimize potential disruptions.

The move out of China will last until the end of 2025

As reported by Nikkei, companies have asked their partners in China to: maximizing production in November and Decemberto avoid the impact of customs duties. However, the long-term plan for the entire tech industry is transfer of production from the Middle Kingdom to other countries.

It is worth emphasizing that this strategy is not directly related to Trump’s return to power. However, the announcements of the new US president prompted technological giants to act quickly. Especially that imports from Mexico and Canada are also to be subject to a 25% tariff.

Dellwhich already produces some goods in Vietnamis exploring opportunities to further diversify production in Southeast Asian countries to reduce geopolitical risk. In case HP partners are already renting and/or building plants and warehouses in Thailand.

In plans Microsoft is to transfer the production of consoles Xbox and laptops Surfacebut also server components for cloud services. In addition to the previously mentioned countries, they will also reportedly be considered India. This will take a while though, a target date is “until the end of 2025”.
