League of Legends creators abandon one of their games

We have bad news for Riot Games fans. The studio has abandoned work on one of its games, it was supposed to be a fighting game in the League of Legends universe.

Riot Games is a world-famous game producer with hits such as League of Legends (MOBA) or Teamfight Tactics (Auto Battler). Millions of people play them every day, but of course the studio is constantly looking for new possibilities.

2XKO is still in development. Premiere in 2025

The fighting game is currently in the alpha testing phase. 2XKOpreviously known as “Project L”. However, Riot Games was also working on a second production of the same genre, codenamed “Pool Party”. However, the Wccftech editorial team reports that it was abandoned some time ago – in May.

Pool Party was supposed to be in the Super Smash Bros. themeor melee combat and platforms embellished with the League of Legends universe. A team of 70-80 people worked on the project.

Unfortunately, the official reason for the game’s cancellation remains unknown, but it is probably due to market saturation.. Super Smash Bros. remains on top, but the problem is the “new” Multi Versus. Of course, we cannot forget about the mass layoffs at Riot Games due to budget cuts.

At least half of the people working on Pool Party were offered work on other studio projects. The 2XKO title is currently out of danger and is scheduled to premiere in 2025. Those interested in trying out the alpha version can sign up for testing on the game’s official website.
