Izera's future is still uncertain. The government is waiting with a decision
The future of the Polish electric car Izera is still in question. The government has not yet decided whether it intends to implement the project using KPO funds.
In March, Jan Szyszko, Deputy Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, admitted that the Polish government did not intend to abandon the Jizera project. Therefore, it seemed that a Polish electric car would actually be created. However, his future is not certain because the final decision has not been made yet.
Izera's future is still uncertain
Poland received the first transfer from the European Union in the amount of PLN 27 billion. However, the government has not yet decided whether it will allocate money from the National Reconstruction Plan to Jizera. The decision will be made by the Ministry of State Assets, which supervises the ElectroMobility Poland company, responsible for the Polish electric car project.
As for the so-called Izera project – it has never been included in the KPO, no agreements have ever been concluded between ElectroMobility Poland and any entity that implements or carries out investments under the KPO, but there is a path, there are funds allocated for zero-emission means of transport, and this can of course be Izera, but it doesn't have to be.
– said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, head of the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.
According to the government, one of the problems is the deadline. The first car would be on the road in 2026, which, according to Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, is impossible. Moreover, she believes that Izera's project should not consume grant funds. In her opinion, it can be achieved with preferential loans and state support. Therefore, Izera may be built, but probably not thanks to KPO funds, which may be used for other purposes as part of zero-emission means of transport.
