iTunes on PC is becoming a thing of the past. Apple releases new applications for Windows
Apple is officially rolling out new apps for Windows computers. They are intended to replace iTunes on PC.
Apple Music, Apple TV+ and Apple devices are applications that have been made available for the system Windowswith the intention of dividing iTunes for PC cross-platform to mirror how these apps work on Mac computers. In Windows 10 or later, PC users can already download three separate applications to manage devices and access the multimedia services of the Cupertino giant. Microsoft first announced plans for Apple Music and Apple TV apps for the Microsoft Store in October 2022so work on separating from iTunes is already underway more than a year.
The standalone Apple Music, Apple Devices, and Apple TV apps for Windows launched in preview in January 2023, and Apple has been releasing updates regularly since then. Now the “Preview” label has been removed from them.
App Apple Music allows Windows users to listen to and manage music from their iTunes library, including iTunes Store purchases, while using the app Apple TV allows users to watch and manage movies and TV shows from iTunes. Both apps also provide access to Apple Music and Apple TV+ streaming services.
App Apple devices has been designed to enable PC owners update, backup and restore for iPhone and iPad and managing themand syncing content from their computers.
Using standalone applications requires a system Windows 10 or later. Once you add them to your computer, iTunes serves you only for accessing podcasts and audiobooks. You should not delete your iTunes library because it is used by the Apple Music and Apple TV apps.
PC users who can’t upgrade to Windows 10 or later can continue to use iTunes. New standalone apps are much more modern and easier to use, better reflecting Mac interfaces.
