It’s over now. There will be no episode 9 of “Stranger Things”.

It was just “mass psychosis”

The last few weeks have been marked by a real frenzy about “Stranger Things”. Fans, as fans do, created conspiracy theories and spread the word that Netflix had prepared a surprise for them in the form of a ninth episode. It was supposed to be something extra, but unfortunately it was also unlikely.

Mass psychosis, however, made some people actually believe that the planned episode 8 was not the real finale, and that the ninth episode was on the way.

And yet this was the finale. Time in Hawkins is up

Since the finale aired (on the night of January 31-1) there was a belief that the epilogue was just a ruse, and the ending we received left the matter quite ambiguously unfinished on purpose. A true final episode would expose this ending and explain what really happened.

Fans had hope until the end. They noticed that Netflix had already introduced surprising novelties, e.g. the series “The Sandman” was granted an additional episode in the first season, and “Rebel Moon” had two extended versions that were revealed.

Did Netflix have a hand in all this? We probably won’t find out. However, the advertisement went out into the world. The media wrote about this expectation, fueled by fans. Some even vaguely claimed that there was an official confirmation from Netflix floating around somewhere. The situation was stirred up by the Duffer brothers and their interviews, which were not always coherent and left fans with a lot of scope for imagination. The fans’ actions prove one thing – “Stranger Things” captured the hearts of the crowds, but apparently it’s time to admit that our time in Hawkins is over for now.
