It was an attack for a good cause. Media giant in trouble

The film giant fell victim to a cyberattack. The hackers stole confidential files and information about new products. However, the attack was not motivated by a desire to make money.

Disney Attack Investigation

As we recently reported, a group of hackers has been stealing a huge amount of information from Disney. Now, the media giant has launched its own investigation into the matter, with the goal of identifying the sources of the leak and finding those responsible.

Hacker group Nullbulge claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it stole information from Disney in order to protect creators’ copyrights in the fight against the use of AI.

Nullbulge did it steal data by gaining access to Disney’s slackthrough one of the company’s anonymous employees. Among other things, confidential materials about the film producer’s new projects fell victim to hackers.

Disney is currently investigating the matter.

– a Disney spokesman told the BBC.

The hackers had a goal other than ransom

British television journalists also reached out to the hackers behind the attack. They admitted that they had accessed the files via Slack. However, they did not respond to the BBC’s request to provide evidence confirming the authenticity of the materials obtained from Disney.

Disney was targeted by us because of how they use artists to create content through AI. It’s theft and disrespect for customers.

– the hackers explained in an interview with the BBC.

There have been concerns from actors and artists who fear for their future. According to them, artificial intelligence can use their previous recordings and photos to then generate new materials using their image.
