NVIDIA RTX AI

Is the graphics card just a stupid game? It’s time to change your views

NVIDIA revolutionized the graphics card market, making it its undisputed leader today. However, we often focus on what the GeForce RTX series has to offer gamers. Meanwhile, these are structures created not only for them. Creators and professionals will benefit equally from them.

The revolution in the world of graphics cards began in 2018, when NVIDIA introduced the first series of GeForce RTX graphics cards. Thanks to them, the Greens introduced, among others, special Tensor and RT cores. The former allow for complex calculations for various artificial intelligence-based technologies, and the latter enable the generation of real-time ray tracing, better known as Ray Tracing.

Of course, we most often associate GeForce series graphics cards with games. It is not without reason that these are, after all, the most efficient models available on the market, thanks to which NVIDIA (according to data from the analytical company Jon Peddie Reaserch) is responsible for as much as 88 percent today. the so-called market dedicated GPUs (dGPU). However, many people often forget that the GeForce RTX series models were created not only with gamers in mind. They have just as much to offer creators and professionals who also need high computing power for fast and effective work. Let’s check what NVIDIA cards have to offer for them.

Why a graphics card?

Many people may ask themselves – why a graphics card and not a processor? After all, the CPU is often referred to as the heart of the computer. The point is that in advanced solutions that require parallel computations, the GPU performs incomparably better than the CPU, which operates sequentially. Therefore, the best solution for professionals and creators will be models from the GeForce RTX 40 series. They not only provide the highest power, but also the latest technologies (e.g. fourth generation Tensor cores), thanks to which completely new possibilities open up to users. The most efficient designs from the RTX 30 series, e.g. RTX 3090 or RTX 3080 Ti, which still have a lot to offer, will also be a great alternative.

GeForce RTX for creators

Let’s start with what NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards have to offer for creators, and there’s quite a lot of it. First of all, it supports many creative applications and key functions that make work easier and faster. Take, for example, the hugely popular Adobe suite. Key graphic effects are accelerated in After Effects, thanks to which the image is rendered much faster than using other GPUs. In turn, in Photoshop and Lightroom, NVIDIA graphics cards allow for more effective photo processing, as well as better (AI-supported) image scaling or automatic object selection, which makes it easier to create masks. It is also worth mentioning special neural filters, which translate into better effects. However, in Adobe Premiere you can automatically detect scenes or crop the image. The possibilities are truly enormous.

But the entire Adobe suite, which includes many other applications accelerated by Tensor cores and the CUDA architecture, is only a fraction of what GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards offer. The long list of supported programs also includes: Blender for 3D graphics modeling, Autodesk, Corel Draw, as well as the DaVinci Resolve coloring and video editing combine. In the latter, in April this year, NVIDIA boasted that the 19th version of the application included new solutions supported by the RTX series. These include IntelliTrack AI, which allows for object tracking and stabilization, and UltraNR, which uses artificial intelligence to reduce spatial noise. The latter solution on the RTX 4090 card is 3 times faster than in the case of computers with the Apple M2 Ultra system.

What about people who do not deal with photography, film or graphic design? NVIDIA also has a lot to offer for them. A great solution that I use myself is the NVIDIA Broadcast application. Thanks to it (and the GeForce RTX 40 graphics card), you can easily enrich your live broadcast, whether while streaming on Twitch or even during a video conference. With one click, the program allows you to blur the background on the camera, eliminate noise and external sounds on the microphone, or enable the constant eye contact function, so viewers and interlocutors will think that you are constantly looking straight at the camera. You can see the effects in the video below:

It’s also impossible to forget about RTX Video. What does this name mean? To put it simply, it’s DLSS for videos you watch in a web browser. This technique, thanks to machine learning algorithms, scales video materials to higher resolution (even 4K Ultra HD), improving their quality and sharpness. You can use this in popular browsers (Chrome, Edge and Firefox) as well as in the VLC media player.

GeForce RTX for professionals

Although the list of possibilities is already long, there are still many other solutions in which GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards have a lot to offer, also to various types of professionals and the so-called enthusiasts. They allow, among other things, the use of neural networks to generate content. It can be text, graphics, animation and even videos. What’s more, you can also do this directly on your computer. You can use ComfyUI or AUTOMATIC1111 for this purpose.

ComfyUI is a node-based interface that requires basic AI knowledge. It offers enormous possibilities because it allows you to connect many nodes together and use interfaces prepared by other users. Additionally, it allows you to work with any selected models for generating graphics, e.g. Stable Diffusion. This way, it is possible to create exactly the images we dreamed of. You just need to feed the interface with the appropriate data to achieve the desired effect. I know it may sound complicated, but the following NVIDIA video illustrates it perfectly:

In turn, AUTOMATIC1111 is the most popular browser-based interface. For many people, it will be an easier solution because it already has a ready-made layout. Additionally, it has been developed for a very long time, so it offers a lot of plug-ins and overlays, making it possible to create even advanced animations in FullHD resolution. The choice depends only on the purpose and individual preferences.

Summary

NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards are an essential element of the equipment of every creator who wants to achieve the highest level of realism and performance in their work. Thanks to advanced technologies and support for popular applications, RTX cards enable you to create amazing designs that were previously unattainable. This is a technology that is constantly developing and offers more and more with each passing month. This not only makes work easier, but also the opportunity to develop your passion, as well as better learn and understand how neural networks and artificial intelligence work. This will soon be extremely useful knowledge.
