International phone transfers in euro? BLIK takes the next step

The first pilot has just been implemented transfer in euro from the phone using the Spanish mobile payment system Bizum to the registered telephone number in BLIK at PKO Bank Polski. This is another step towards full cooperation between mobile payment systems from different European countries.

BLIK has started a pilot P2P transfers in euro together with European partners at the end of 2025. During last year’s November Web Summit 2025 conference in Lisbon, the first test transaction involving BLIK in euro was presented – from the Portuguese MB WAY system a transfer was sent to the Santander Bank Polska customer’s phone. In December, the first client from PKO Bank Polski also accepted a foreign transfer sent by the Portuguese user MB WAY.

BLIK emphasizes that the transfer from Spain to Poland just completed is a form of further technological integration, the aim of which is to launch full interoperability of payment systems mobile devices working in Europe. The aim of BLIK is to enable free, immediate transfers to a telephone number between users of various mobile payment systems, without the need to install new applications.

Further tests and expansion of cooperation with partners are intended to bring closer the moment when a transfer to a telephone number between countries will be as simple as a local P2P transaction, and this is what almost 450 million Europeans are waiting for

– said Dariusz Mazurkiewicz, president of BLIK.

BLIK from 2025, when it joined the EuroPA association, together with partners from Spain (Bizum), Portugal (SIBS), Italy (Bancomat) and Nordic countries (Vipps) is working on the interoperability of instant P2P transfers to a phone number. Pilot implementations to date confirm the technical readiness of the systems to execute such transactions.

BLIK payments are now available worldwide
