Although the new Intel Core Ultra 200 processors are a significant improvement in many aspects, such as power consumption and heat generation, they are still a disappointment for most people. The reason is simple. It’s all about performance, with a particular focus on gaming. Intel is aware of this and intends to fix it.
Intel will fix Arrow Lake performance
Robert Hallock, vice president and general manager of artificial intelligence and technical marketing at Intel, was interviewed on the HotHardware YouTube channel. Many issues concerned Intel Arrow Lake processors. Hallock admitted that the premiere did not go according to the Blues’ plan, but they intend to fix it.
According to Hallock, the problem with gaming performance is not related to the design of new processors and fundamental hardware defects. According to him, specific combinations of BIOS and operating system settings that limit the performance of Core Ultra 200 chips are to blame. This is expected to result in strange and inconsistent results under various loads.
One example is high memory latencies, which in some tests reached up to 180 nanosecondswhere normally it should be 70-80 nanoseconds. While this is not the main cause of poor gaming performance, it does show that the problem exists. Hallock also admitted that the independent tests did not reflect what Intel obtained in its own internal tests.
Some of the problems are expected to be resolved at the end of November and beginning of December. That’s what Hallock is counting on.
