Could Pat Gelsinger just become a scapegoat?

The American giant has appointed a special recruitment committeewhich will be responsible for selecting a new CEO. The process is in its early stages, but the company plans to announce a decision within a few weeks. A name appears among potential candidates Lip-Bu Tana technology industry veteran and former Intel board member.

Lip-Bu Tan is respected in the industry for his vision and transformational abilities. Under his leadership Cadence Design Systems has become one of the market leaders, which has earned it recognition, including the Lifetime of Innovation Award. However, skeptics point out inexperience in managing a company the size and complexity of Intel that not only designs its own CPUs and GPUs but also manufactures semiconductors.

Intel is looking for a new CEO. Who will replace Pat Gelsinger?

It is worth recalling that Tan has served on Intel’s board of directors in the pastbetween September 2022 and August 2023. His relationship with Gelsinger was reportedly strained, which ultimately led to his departure. The differences concerned employment, contract manufacturing strategy and the company’s organizational culture.

There is nothing else to do but be patient and wait for the decision regarding the new CEO. The only question is whether “getting rid of” Pat Gelsinger wasn’t too hasty? He held his position for a relatively short time – only 3.5 years, and most of the products released during that time were developed before his term. So it looks more like the American giant simply found a scapegoat.
