Instead of parcels – books. A book dispenser was set up at the Catholic University of Lublin
It is a device similar to parcel lockers, although it can be used to collect not parcels, but books borrowed from the university library. To use it, you must have an active library account, no arrears, and the borrowing limit has not been exceeded. Then we can borrow a book online and pick it up at the Książkomat, for which we have 3 days. Thanks to this, we can pick up the item we are interested in much faster, without going to the library, and at any time, because the book locker operates 24/7.
This is a great simplification for people who combine two fields of study, or studies with work. Everything can be done on the run at any time. Of course, returns work the same way. Of course, there are some limitations. In the case of multi-volume items or items larger than the dimensions of the boxes, it is necessary to go to the university library in person. As Artur Podsiadły, director of the KUL University Library, emphasizes:
We want the borrowing of collections to be optimally facilitated also for those who have limited time to visit the Library during standard opening hours. The device allows you to use our resources in a modern way and adapted to the dynamic lifestyle of readers.
However, this is only one aspect. It also concerns students with disabilities. The book locker allows them to pick up books more easily, without having to go to the library. The bookstore itself was implemented as part of the project titled: CULTURE OF DEVELOPMENT AND ACCESSIBILITY. However, it is available to all students.
