ING said too much. This text message was never supposed to reach customers

ING Bank Śląski caused quite a stir among its customers. First, it promised them 140 PLN in a promotion via text message, and then it withdrew it, citing a system error.

The encouragement sounds quite mysterious, but also encourages you to take advantageand 140 PLN is not a walk in the park. So maybe you should be tempted by this promotion?

Unfortunately, another message soon arrived. It was ING Bank Śląski cancels previous SMSclaiming it was a system error. He explains that it was a test account, which a current customer cannot use.

Due to a system error, we have mistakenly sent an SMS about a promotion of PLN 130 for testing an account. We are sorry, you cannot use it because you have an account

What is it about? It is not exactly known, although “140 PLN for testing the account” This is one of the promotions that the bank has run several times in recent years – the condition was opening a bank account and testing it. The promotion has appeared in different editions several times, but currently there is no such campaign.

The common denominator of these promotions was that they were aimed at only for new customers – so the sending to current customers was actually a mistake. The bank cannot have the numbers of future customers yet, so idea for an SMS campaign seems particularly inappropriate.
