IKO with a new function. No more taking photos of your ID

The easiest method for someone who did not yet have a bank account in such a situation was to take a photo of their ID card. Which, let’s face it, is neither very comfortable, and may also raise safety concerns: not to mention whether they are right or wrong. Additionally, it significantly lengthens the entire process. Of course, you can also do it in person at a bank branch, but this undermines the point of opening an account online.

Fortunately, this problem is solved by verification in mObywatel. This function has just been added to PKO BP. When creating an account using the IKO application, it is possible to verify your identity using mObywatel. Thanks to this, you can verify your identity quickly and automatically and sign the contract with an SMS code.

As he emphasized Paweł Placzke, director of the Individual Client Products Department at PKO Bank Polski:

(…) The new application for opening an account in the IKO application using mObywatel is a fully digital process that uses the advantages and security of e-state. Thanks to the use of mObywatel, applying for our PKO Konto za Zero is shorter, more intuitive and better suited to customer needs.

It is worth adding that identity verification by selfie and photo ID is still an active option. It is also worth adding that PKO BP is not the first bank with this function. This was available at PEKAO SA already in 2022.
