Honor launches its Galaxy Z Fold 5 killer, the Honor Magic V2
The Chinese brand has announced the Chinese launch of Honor Magic V2, a foldable smartphone that competes with the future Galaxy Z Fold 5. This is a direct sequel to Honor Magic V. A release in France cannot be ruled out. since the Honor Magic Vs, variation of the Honor Magic V was released by us.
While the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be launched in less than two weeks, Honor is doing its thing by announcing its second foldable smartphone. This is the Honor Magic V2, still in book format, launched today in China.
Two screens that promise to be sublime
The internal screen is an Oled LTPO panel in 9.78: 9 format, which means that its refresh rate can drop significantly (below 60 Hz) in order to consume as little as possible. A screen that can display 1.07 billion colors in total.
As for the external screen, it is also an Oled panel which goes up to 120 Hz, in 20:9 format, more classic of course. It has a maximum brightness of 2500 cd/m², while the internal screen is content with 1600 cd/m², which looks excellent. As usual with Honor, there are functions to adapt the brightness of the screen according to ambient light, or others to prevent eye fatigue and the impact on the circadian cycle.
A neat design
As usual, the manufacturer highlights its design choices. Here, it is the finesse and the weight that are promoted. 213 grams in total and a thickness of 9.9 mm (folded). If we do not reach the measurements of a smartphone ” classic (whose screen does not fold), we are getting closer all the same. Honor also ensures that its model is able to withstand more than 400,000 folds, which is equivalent to 100 folds per day for ten years.
The whole contains a double battery with a total capacity of 5000 mAh. It can be recharged at a maximum power of 66 W. However, the manufacturer has not announced autonomy for its Honor Magic V2.
A complete photo module and Android 13
On the photo part of the Honor Magic V2, there are five photo sensors:
- A main sensor of 50 Mpx (f / 1.9);
- A 50 Mpx ultra-wide-angle sensor (f / 2.0);
- A 20 Mpx telephoto lens (f / 2.4);
- Two 16 MPx (f/2.2) selfie sensors.
On the OS side, we find the MagicOS 7.2 interface, based on Android 13 on this Honor smartphone. Among the additions made on this model specifically, there is a function allowing ” to easily separate professional applications from personal applications. »
Honor has not announced an update duration on this model. An operating system that works thanks to Qualcomm’s SoC dedicated to high-end smartphones of 2023, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, coupled with an Adreno 740 GPU and 16 GB of RAM.
Price and availability of the Honor Magic V2
The Honor Magic V2 is available in China only in the colors black, gold, silk, purple and black silk (version with vegetable leather). It is currently in pre-orders there in different versions:
- 256 GB of storage for 8999 RMB, or around 1130 euros;
- 512 GB of storage for 9999 RMB, or approximately 1255 euros;
- 1 TB of storage for 11999 RMB, or around 1507 euros.
For the moment, Honor has not indicated if the Magic V2 will be available elsewhere, such as in Europe. As a reminder, the Honor Magic Vs has been marketed with us since May.
