Here is the new electric Mercedes EQA, with more autonomy and some new features

After two years of career, the 100% electric Mercedes EQA is getting a little restyling. On the program, a new style as well as increased autonomy, among others.

If Mercedes ended the career of its EQC due to disappointing sales, the rest of its electric range is doing quite well. And it’s the turn of its most compact model, the EQA to be talked about as it offers itself a brand new mid-career restyling.

A more modern style

A small facelift which comes quite early, since the electric SUV rival of the Tesla Model Y arrived on the market in 2021. Two years after its launch, it is therefore being updated, logically very discreetly. In particular, this involves a new front end that sports the Black Panel grille which is also found on the EQS.

Now the optics are linked together by a thin light strip, while the shield benefits from a new design. The side vents seem slightly less prominent than before, giving a more refined style to this new modern version. It will also be noted that two new blue and silver shades appear, as well as 18 to 20 inch alloy wheels.

The rear hardly evolves, nor does the driving position. However, the 10.25 inch digital handset is now standard, combined with a touch screen of the same size. The latter incorporates the latest generation of the MBUX system, including, among other things, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. The voice command has been improved and it can now suggest the use of certain applications.

Remote OTA updates are also part of the endowment to purchase additional features. The dimensions do not change and the vehicle retains its trunk oscillating between 340 and 1,320 liters. If the touchpad disappears on the central console, the steering wheel is equipped with new touch controls. An idea that Volkswagen returned to last year.

Increased autonomy

If most of the restylings concern only the aesthetic aspect, that operated by Mercedes on its EQA is not satisfied with it. Indeed, the manufacturer has also improved the autonomy of its electric SUV, which increases from 529 to 560 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, thanks to the addition of 18-inch tires with low rolling resistance as well as a rear spoiler and a new design of the wheel arches. The press release from the brand specifies that the power always oscillates between 190 and 292 horsepower.

Two batteries are offered, displaying a capacity of 66.5 and 70.5 kWh. The manufacturer does not currently specify the time required for recharging, but it should remain unchanged and be around thirty minutes. Indeed, the maximum power always peaks at 100 kW, whatever the version, namely 250+, 300 4Matic and 350 4Matic.

The electric SUV is now compatible with the Plug & Charge functionality, which allows you to start the latter without having to take out your card or your smartphone. This technology is already used by certain brands such as Tesla or Volkswagen and works in particular on Ionity terminals.

This new restyled Mercedes EQA will be available to order this fall, while deliveries will begin early next year. The price has not yet been communicated, but it should probably exceed the 46,950 euros of the previous version, which could threaten obtaining the ecological bonus. The SUV gets a new reversing camera as well as an improved lane departure warning system.
