Tony Todd, the legendary actor known for the film Candyman and many video games including Spider-Man 2, Half-Life: Alyx and Indiana Jones – has died. The horror icon was 69 years old.

Tony Todd died at the age of 69. This actor had a long and colorful career that dates back to the 1980s and such classics as “Platoon” by Oliver Stone and the series “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. However, his greatest fame came with the title role in Sam Raimi’s 1992 horror film “Candyman”.and later, among others appeared in the Final Destination film series.
However, the actor was not only known from the silver screen – he also often appeared in video games. For example, in 2023 he played the role of Venom in the game Spider-Man 2 from Insomniacreleased on PS5. He also previously appeared in Half-Life 2: Episode Two and Half-Life: Alyx, the Polish Layers of Fear 2 or Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
The gaming and film industries are shaken. Insomniac Games, the creators of Spider-Man, wrote:
“We are saddened by the passing of our friend Tony Todd. He brought so much joy to our studio in the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and to many fans around the world. His voice and acting presence are incomparable. We are Venom… forever. “
Todd had another big role under his belt – namely will also appear in Indiana Jones and the Great Circlewhich will be released on PC and Xbox Series X/S on December 9, 2024.
