He was eaten by a cow 50 years ago. He has just been found

A farmer from Great Britain lost a real treasure in the 1970s. 50 years later the little thing was found. A cow probably ate it.

The treasure in question is a watch. Mr. James Steele bought himself a Rolex in 1950 to celebrate his 21st birthday. The watch cost him 100 pounds back then (today it is 4,500 pounds, or approximately PLN 23,000). It was a young farmer’s dream come true.

After more than 20 years of wear – also while working with cattle – the watch bracelet gave out. Unfortunately, it was during feeding. The farmer was looking for the watch, but unfortunately he couldn’t find it.

He had to accept the loss. He decided to tighten his belt and buy himself another Rolex to ease his heartache.

Today, Mr. Steele is 95 years old. And two Rolexes! One of them had to go through an incredible journey.

The watch was returned to its owner by accident. The farmer’s family still lives in the same place and still raises cattle. Mr Steele’s son agreed to let Liam King search the pasture with a metal detector. The enthusiast looked for old coins, but did not find any. For it he pulled a 70-year-old watch out of the mud with invaluable sentimental value for the owner of the pasture.

A quick analysis of the mud by farmers and a treasure hunter present at the site indicates that the watch was eaten by one of the cows. Without damages it passed through her digestive system and ended up in the cake. He lay there for 50 years surrounded by feceswhich slowly overgrown with grass and merged with the soil.

The watch is in surprisingly good condition and has no signs of rust. It is possible that with a good cleaning and re-lubrication it will work again. I don’t think any smartwatch will survive such an adventure.
