The man went to the Apple store to pick up a laptop he had previously ordered. However, this one has already been picked up by someone else. There was nothing that could be done about it.

Rick Markowitz, an Apple fan, fell victim to an unusual scam. The man ordered a new laptop with a bitten apple in the logo. He decided to pick it up in person at one of the Apple stores because he was afraid of theft by the courier. Unfortunately, this did not protect him from fraud. It turned out that the laptop was picked up by someone else.

Once the order was ready, Markowitz went to pick up his laptop from the Apple Store. Upon arrival, it turned out that the device was no longer there. It was received by someone else who had his Apple ID. Despite begging and pleading, nothing could be done about it. The man was defrauded of approximately PLN 4,000. dollars.
After returning home, he not only filed a police report, but also started looking for information about similar cases. It turned out that he was not the first to fall victim to a similar fraud. We know of at least two other situations in which someone else picked up the ordered equipment from the Apple Store.
How does a scammer work? Not 100% sure about this, but it’s probably hacking into your Apple account somehow. Then it waits for the device to be ordered. When it is ready for collection, it immediately goes to the store to warn the real buyer. Thanks to the information obtained, he has access to the victim’s Apple ID, which does not arouse any suspicion among the staff.
