Police officers from Radziejów received a report of a large-scale fraud. The victim was a 48-year-old man. It all started in September last year. The injured party noticed it online advertising an investment platform. The material promoted investing capital in gold. The advertisement used images of famous people. They were supposed to guarantee safety and high profits.
The man clicked on the link from the ad. A few hours later his phone rang. The caller introduced himself as a professional investment advisor. He assured the 48-year-old that will help him multiply his savings. The victim started investing according to the scammer’s instructions.
Costly withdrawal of profits
The cooperation initially seemed fruitful. In the investor’s online account profits were emerging. The amount of money allegedly earned it grew to $100,000. The man decided to withdraw the accumulated funds. Then the alleged advisor informed Fr the need to pay additional fees.
Withdrawal was to be possible only after paying tax and consulting fees. A resident of Radziejów County believed these explanations. He made transfers to the indicated foreign account. The total was transferred to fraudsters over PLN 170,000. These were his private savings.
Contact has been lost
After making the transfers, the man tried to withdraw the profits again. Then contact with the false advisor suddenly ended. The phone was silent and the money was gone. Only then did the 48-year-old understand that was a victim of a crime. He reported the matter to law enforcement authorities.
