Restricting your PESEL number is one of the most effective methods of combating fraud. The Ministry of Digitization reminds that blocking a number can be withdrawn at any time. But not everyone remembers one detail.

However, you should be aware that re-registration is not so immediate. Re-registering your PESEL may take from 30 minutes to 12 hours.
You have to wait for the PESEL number status to change
A function that allows you to PESEL number restriction can be found in the mObywatel application. Withdrawing the reservation means that the number will be unblocked until we block it again. We can also use the option of temporarily withdrawing the restriction, which allows us to set a date by which the PESEL number should be blocked. This is a very convenient option and allows for greater flexibility when it comes to security.
It often happens that we withdraw the PESEL reservation when purchasing household appliances or at a bank, when withdrawing funds or concluding certain contracts with institutions. It is worth being aware that we will have to wait 30 minutes or more before we reserve it again.
It is also worth remembering that from June 1, 2024, if someone takes out a loan with a restricted PESEL number, the injured party does not have to repay it. 4 million Poles have already used the option to reserve their PESEL number.
