Great exchange of an important document. Millions of Poles are already getting ready

Even if you use mID in the mObywatel application, this fact does not exempt you from having its traditional version. In 2025, as many as 3.5 million Poles will rush to exchange their document for a new one.

The Ministry of Digitization announced that in 2025, nearly 3.5 million Poles will have to replace their ID cards. This is much more than in previous years. If we do not exchange the ID on time, we may face fines. And this is what we would prefer to avoid.

In Poland, there is such a thing as an obligation for adults to have an ID card. This identity document is issued every 10 years, so in 2025 all those issued in 2015 will expire. Replacing the document with a new one applies to as many as 3.5 million citizens.

In 2025, approximately 3 million 371 thousand ID cards will expire.

– these are data from the ministry as of December 4, 2024, obtained by Business Insider from the Ministry.

Of course, it is known that more and more people use their ID cards in the mObywatel application. WITH mID is currently used by over 8 million Poles. It also has a certificate that must be renewed annually. In our country, it is as important as physical evidence in traditional form. You can identify yourself with it, e.g. in offices, at the post office, in financial institutions, at a notary, and even when voting in electoral commissions.

Despite these conveniences, this does not mean that we can completely forget about the document in its traditional form. So even if it is at the bottom of the drawer, it is worth checking its expiration date. Perhaps it just needs replacing.
