GeForce RTX 5090 Will Be Powerful. The Clock Speed Alone Is Impressive

NVIDIA is preparing a really powerful graphics card. The GeForce RTX 5090 is to have a very high, base clock speed.

The first graphics cards from the GeForce RTX 50 series will probably debut this year. At the moment, it is not certain whether it will be the RTX 5080 or maybe the RTX 5090. If the latter, then NVIDIA is preparing a powerful specification for it. The base clock speed of the GPU core is supposed to be very high.

GeForce RTX 5090 Specifications

The latest information comes from the Chiphell forum, which is often the source of many leaks. The author is Panzerlied, who also has many rumors to his credit that have turned out to be true over time. According to him, the base core clock speed of the RTX 5090 will be as high as 2.9 GHz. For comparison, the RTX 4090 only has 2235 MHz by default, so that’s a 30 percent improvement.

We don’t know how high the Boost clock will be, but it is almost certain that it will exceed 3.0 GHz. In more expensive, overclocked models with better cooling, the clock should be set even higher. This alone should translate into an increase in performance, and then there are things like a completely new architecture or more CUDA cores. This heralds an incredibly powerful card.

GeForce RTX 5090 is expected to be equipped with the GB202 core. This one is supposed to have 192 compute units (24,576 CUDA cores) and support a 512-bit memory interface. However, the RTX 5090 will probably be slightly limited and offer a 448-bit bus and 28 GB of GDDR7 memory (1568 GB/s bandwidth). There is a chance that it will hit store shelves this year, although there are rumors that the premiere may be delayed to early 2025.
