GeForce RTX 5090 is to be up to 70 percent faster. from RTX 4090
The GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card should be available in stores around the turn of the year. It is expected to be as much as 60-70 percent cheaper. more efficient than the RTX 4090 model.
NVIDIA has already presented all models of Lovelace series graphics cards. The RTX 40 Super models are probably the last thing that awaits us in this generation. Now all we have to do is wait for the RTX 50 Blackwell series. The first design, most likely the GeForce RTX 5090, is scheduled to go on sale at the end of this year. Its efficiency is expected to be as much as 60-70 percent. better than its predecessor.
GeForce RTX 5090 performance
This information was provided by Moore’s Law is Dead, which you should already know very well. Although the exact specifications of the GeForce RTX 5090 model have not yet been determined, NVIDIA is reportedly targeting a 70 percent performance increase. We’re probably talking about floating-point performance, so the increase won’t be that big in games. I think that the number of frames displayed per second in standard rasterization should increase by a maximum of about 30-40%.
NVIDIA clearly does not intend to give up the segment for the biggest enthusiasts, even despite the lack of competition. AMD admitted that the RX 7900 XTX is more competition for the RTX 4080 than the RTX 4090. The Reds also have no intention of fighting for the top spot with the next generation. Moreover, as rumors suggest, they may completely abandon the top segment, focusing on mid-range models.
Also interesting are reports that all standard GeForce RTX 50 models will be equipped with partial cores. Each of them is to be trimmed to some extent. On the one hand, this significantly improves the production yield, because even slightly ailing units can be used, and on the other hand, it gives room to introduce refreshed variants, such as the Super line. Therefore, this decision of the Greens is no surprise.
We don’t know the prices of the new cards yet, but I suspect that NVIDIA will want to avoid large increases, because they already got hit hard for the RTX 40 series. Despite this, Moore’s Law is Dead suggests that the RTX 5090 could be $400 more expensive than the RTX 4090. The most likely release date is the fourth quarter of 2024, but we will almost certainly see only the RTX 5090 model or possibly the RTX 5080 this year. Most variants will not hit stores until 2025.
