Samsung’s approach to the issue of powering phones has been causing dissatisfaction among the brand’s fans for years. For a long time, top Galaxy S smartphones offered a charging power of 25 W like average smartphones, and the finally introduced 45 W (Galaxy S21 Ultra from 2021) seemed to be the peak of the Koreans’ capabilities. However, it seems that after 5 years, Samsung will dare to take the next step.

Behind the new reports is the informant Ice Universe, who shared details about the energy specifications of the upcoming smartphone on the X website. According to his sources, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 60 W wired charging. The new standard will allow the battery to be charged from 0 to 75% in just 30 minutes. This is a noticeable jump compared to its predecessor, which, with support for 45 W, needed about an hour and a half to fully replenish energy.

As Ice Universe emphasizes, these are results obtained in controlled Samsung laboratory conditions, so in everyday use this time may vary slightly depending on the temperature or load of the device.

These reports make sense when we look at the recent movements of Koreans on the accessories market. In December, Samsung quietly introduces a new EP-T6010NBEGWW wall charger with a power of 60 W. The description shows that the accessory was created with Galaxy smartphones in mind. The charger is valued at approximately PLN 220 and can already be purchased in some stores in Europe.

60W charging seems to be a reasonable compromise between energy recovery speed and safety. It is worth recalling that the 60 W threshold in Chinese smartphones was already exceeded in 2019 (the first one was Oppo Reno Ace), today even mid-range models offer 65 W, 80 W, and even more often 100 W. In top models, 120 W is becoming the standard.

Unfortunately, there are many indications that 60 W charging is reserved only for the most expensive model in the upcoming Samsung series. According to previous rumors, the basic Galaxy S26 may remain at the old 25 W standard, and the plus model will probably stay at the current 45 W.

The issue of the battery itself in the Ultra variant still remains uncertain – it is said to have a capacity of 5,200 mAh, although pessimists still point to 5,000 mAh. An additional improvement will be the acceleration of wireless charging to 25 W and the introduction of magnetic cases.
