Galaxy S26 may disappoint fans. Samsung has an excuse

Cases suggest no changes

Nieuwemobiel has published photos of accessories for the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The transparent cases attract attention. Some of them have a built-in magnetic ring. Such an addition would be unnecessary if there are magnets inside the phone casing.

A similar situation was noticed by 9to5Google. The presence of a magnet in the case is a clear signal. It suggests lack of compatibility with the Qi2 standard directly in the device. Users who want to use magnetic holders will have to purchase special housings.

Reverse charging and magnets

Another clue is the technical specifications of smartphones. The renders for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra feature the Wireless Power Share function. This is wireless reverse charging. This technology rarely goes hand in hand with strong magnets inside the housing.

The Google Pixel 10 series has abandoned wireless energy sharing in favor of magnets. Samsung apparently chose a different path. Maintaining the Power Share function may exclude the presence of the Qi2 standard inside the phone. Engineers would have to develop an entirely new method of combining these two technologies.

Premiere in 3 weeks

The lack of magnets may be a disappointment for some customers. This solution was popularized by Apple in its iPhones under the name MagSafe. Many were counting on a similar move from Samsung. It was intended to help with the wider adoption of this standard in the Android ecosystem.

All doubts will be dispelled at the end of the month. According to unofficial information, the premiere of the Galaxy S26 series will take place on February 25, 2026. Then we will know the final specifications of the devices and confirm these reports.
