From September with a new ID. Three years will get it for free
The news about the end of paper IDs circulated in the media in July, when the change was announced. Meanwhile, September came and the topic returned. It turns out that there is no reason to panic, and three age groups will receive plastic documents completely free of charge.
As we have already written on Telepolis.pl, the end of paper school IDs is slowly coming. All new documents will be issued in paper form. The change took place on July 13, so the matter became loud in the media then, and many schools were surprised by this fact.
Free plastic IDs for three age groups
The beginning of the year has started in full swing, so the issue of changing the form of the ID card has returned. From September, the old form of the document is to be replaced by its plastic equivalent. It turns out that only students of three years will receive IDs for free. We are talking about students of the first and seventh grades of primary school and the first grades of secondary schools. Other students will have to pay a few zlotys for the document. Of course, this is not mandatory, because the old paper document can still be used until its expiry date.
Why will seventh-grade students receive the new document for free? For a simple reason. It results from the structure of the document. In paper IDs there were only six fields for stamps with the document’s expiry date.
And there is no reason to panic here. Paper ID cards will no longer be issued, but they will still be valid. Therefore, there will be no need to replace them. Unless the student loses the old one or it is damaged.
Let us remind you that the new plastic ID cards are the size of an ID card. They contain a photo, the child’s name and surname and PESEL, date of birth, and the name and address of the school, as well as the name of the principal. There will be no student signature. Instead of stamps with expiration dates, there are holograms in the form of stickers.
