Do you withdraw from an ATM? This is something you need to know
Although cashless payments are extremely popular in Poland, there are still situations when we need banknotes. However, not every amount can be withdrawn. Much depends on the ATM and bank.
Poles love cashless payments. According to data from the National Bank of Poland, in the fourth quarter of 2023 we made as many as 2.1 billion contactless transactions using cards, smartphones or smartwatches.
But cash doesn't disappear. There are still situations when we need banknotes. Then we usually go to an ATM to withdraw the appropriate amount. The device does not always give us as much as we would like – informs Forsal.
ATM withdrawal limits
Some people may not know, but ATMs have limits on withdrawals. They are set directly by banks and device operators. The differences between individual ATMs are really big. ATM withdrawal limits are as follows:
- Euronet — PLN 800 one-time payment
- PlanetCash — PLN 1,000 one-time payment
- PKO BP – PLN 20,000 one-time withdrawal (this is also the daily limit)
- Pekao — daily limit of PLN 6,000 for Visa, Mastercard and Maestro cards and PLN 15,000 for debit cards
- Millennium — PLN 2,000 default daily limit, which can be increased to PLN 20,000
- Santander — PLN 1,000 for a one-time withdrawal and PLN 15,000 daily limit
- mBank — PLN 10,000 one-time payment
- ING Bank Śląski — PLN 10,000 one-time payment
It is also worth remembering that ATMs do not have unlimited amounts of cash. Therefore, when there is a shortage of money, the machine may not pay out the requested amount even if it does not exceed the limits.
